Svētdien tūkstošiem dāņu izgāja Kopenhāgenas ielās, lai atvainotos islāma pasaulei par Muhameda karikatūrām, kuru publikācijas Dānijas presē, bet pēc tam arī citos Eiropas izdevumos, saniknoja islāma piekritējus, kuri vairākās islāma valstīs izvērsuši uzbrukumus pret Dānijas vēstniecību ēkām.

Demonstranti Kopenhāgenas ielās aicināja islāma pasauli un Eiropas valstu līderus uz miermīlīgām pārrunām, bet Dānijas politiķi izteikuši aicinājumu citu Eiropas valstu līderiem palīdzēt atrisināt saspringto situāciju.

Vienkārši katrs varbūt apskata savu zīmējumu komplektu. Bet ja tas tiešām tā ir, tad varam sākt domāt, kam tas ir izdevīgi ;-)

Maz pamata domat, ka kadi no arabu demonstrantiem bus kadas karikaturas redzejusi. Vini vairak uzticas mullam un citiem saviem vadoniem. Si uzkudisana atgadina grautinus Krievija un t.s. "Kristalnakti" Vacija.

Letter to the Muslim Community

The Editor of the Islamic Horizon has brought to my notice the recentcontroversy over the cartoons of Prophet Muhammad appeared in Magazinet, a newspaper in Norway and on the website of the Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet. These cartoons orginally were printed in Danish newspaper. The sentiments of the Muslim community have been hurt. It has triggered street demonstrations and Norwegian flag burning in the Middle East. Libya joined Saudi Arabia in withdrawing its ambassador from Copenhagen. There has been boycott of Danish goods throughout the Islamic countries. The Danish Government has warned its citizens about traveling to Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Leanon, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Syria, and has withdrawn aid workers from the Gaza Strip. In 2004 I went to Visit Hebron in Palestine. I was guest of a senior Muslim Imam in Hebron. He took me around and introduced me to Danish aid workers. He was full of praise for their help to the Palestinian people. I personally know that through the Danish and Norwegian embassies many Muslim organizations receive help in Pakistan and other Islamic countries to improve the life of the poor Muslim families. I do not buy the argument of my Muslim friends that there is a conspiracy cooked by CHristians in the West to hurt, conquer and insult Islam. The church I am part of it has been making efforts for decades to build bridges among CHristians and Muslims. I personally have devoted my own life and ministry to work towards reconciliation and peace among our faith communities. Such stupid publication of the cartoons of the Prophet of Islam does trigger suspicions in the hearts of Muslim community that there is a clash of cultures or modern crusades. I feel the pain of my Muslim brothers and sisters. I sincerely apologize although I have no hand in such careless expression of the freedom of speech.

The West must understand that there is a sacred tradition in the Middle East, Asia and Africa that you do not make fun of God and your Prophets and Sages as God Almighty has revealed His righteous law through them. God gave particular commandment to the people of Israel that "Thou shalt not take the Name of the Lord thy God in vain." However, experience of such freedom of free speech to make fun of any faith in a derogatory way comes to us as a cultural shock to those of us who have immigrated from the East to the West. We appreciate and love the individual's personal rights and journalist's entitlement to freedom of free speech without censorship. We know that it is not the case in the countries of our origin. We appreciate the reforms in the Western civilization which has reallyhelped the free expression and truth telling. Many of us are actually the beneficial. There are hundreds of thousands of Muslims themselves who have taken advantage of the freedom of speech and have taken political asylum in the countries in the West. In Norway the Islamic community and in other Western nations have been welcomed and given full rights to exercise their faith. Even in Rome and in Vatican you shall find a mosque for the worship of Muslims. There are many Islamic countries such as Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Libya who do not allow their guest workers who are CHristians or of other faith origins to simply have a place to worship. I personally have helped and provided Islamic community to worship in my own church parish hall. Many churches in the West have provided welcome and services to Muslims in their neighborhoods. I would never personally encourage any insult or discrimination towards any other faith community. We need to learn in the new reality of 21st century that because of modern communications we are neighbors to each other. Jesus CHrist said, "Love thy neighbor as thyself." We live now in a global village where the immigrants and the Western culture both need to learn about each other's sacred traditions so that we all can live in peace and harmony. Although I shall defend the rights of the free speech but at the same time I shall condemn the folly of the Norwegian and Danish press. They must acknowledge that they are sorry to hurt the feeling of the faithful of the Islamic faith. They need to learn that it is unthinkable for a person from the Islamic, Hindu, Buddhist, Sikh, Jewish and CHristian faith from the East to say derogatory remarks or draw funny cartoons of their Prophets and Sages. They are people who are highly respected and there is no place in those societies to make any fun of the founders of their faith. We are on the learning curve and hope each time such mistake help us to be better and appreciative of our faith and cultural traditions.

Let hatred not win to divide and destroy our faith communities. May we not further divide and labor each other with hatred and violence. There are many important issues we should focus to work together. We must combine our forces to work for peace and justice for Palestinians, Kashmiris and Sudanese. Poverty is the worst enemy in the third world and we need to work together for human dignity. HIVAIDS destroys human families and kills millions in Asia and Africa every year. These children of God are crying to have our attention and help. Let us not waste any more time in exporting hate. Let us be the harbingers of hope. The God of the Holy Bible and the Holy Qu'ran is the God of hope. Our God is still in control and the source of our hope. Hope is the energy of change and transformation. With this hope, we Muslims and CHristians can plan and sow the seeds of hope to cultivate the culture of peace.

May I invite my Muslim brothers and sisters that let prejudice and hate may not overcome the deeds of charity and goodness. The Almighty God we worship is God of mercy and forgiveness and our profession of faith is that "God is Great." Let us not engage with each other to wage war but reconciliation, and to offer the balm of healing for the wounded and love to embrace each other. Salaam, Peace!

Viens no daudziem iemesliem kādēļ Sirija, Jordana un Libana šis naids tiek kurināts, esot pārāk lielās problēmas pašu zemēs - ārējais (kopīgais) ienaidnieks vienmēr ir vienojis nācijas.....

Komentatori ie vienoti, ka arabu tiktatūrās sagaidāmas lielākas izmaiņas - sevišķi tanīs, kurās diktatoripatlaban atklāti izliekas esam ļoti ticīgi un atbalsta ekstrēmi labos musulmāņus .... tā paceļot viņu dignitātī, kas ļoti atkodīsies ...

Meli ir arī par Mohammeda attelošanu bildē! Es pats Irana esmu rēdzēji Mohameda attēlus - jātazīst, tās nebija karikatūras .... Apskatot šīs karikatūras jāsaka, ka personīgi lielo vairumu neuzskatu par aizvainojušām vai aizskarošām - tikai tādā veidā parāda kā ekstrēmo musulmāņu darbība novērojama pasaulē ....

cik ilgi var dzīvot zem čaosa neziņas spiedieniem?

patiehsām ļoti atkodīsies.

Eiropa, īpaši liberālās ziemeļzemes īpaši mēģinājušas noturēt līdzsvaru savos vērtējumos, saprotot, ka cilvēktiesības pārkāpj/ apgāna/ izvaro netikai vardarbīgi dumpinieki - indivīdi, īpašas kopienas bet arī valstis ij impērijas.

redzot, ka apvainotie atbild nevis ar miermīlīgiem protestiem, bet ar vardarbību dedzinot sūtniecības ij baznīcas, vairāki pāries no mērena viedokļa uz radikālāku. kā var sarunāties ar saniknotu fanātiķi kas brēc "nāvi Dānijai" par kādu dāņu apvainojumiem, bez tam paplašinot uz visādām citām zemēm ar kurju iedomājās dāņus saistītus?

pat ar mērenu musulmani grūti izrunāties, ja principā viņam zaimošana ir lielāks grēks nekā vardarbība. jo liberālam eiropietim rīcība - vardarbība - ir smagāka likuma pārkāpšana, turklāt augsti vērtē izteiksmes brīvību. abpusēji izslēdzošas vērtības.

man šķiet atkodīsies, jo arvien vairāk eiropiešu negribēs lai pāri viņu robežām plūst musulmaņu kas pašos pamatos nepieņem likumību/ dzīves skatu kāds izveidojies Eiropā. tas varētu iespaidot attiecības ar Turciju, īpaši, jo ir sava tieksme fanātiķiem apklusināt mērenos.

visās rietumu reliģijās pamatprincips ir vērsties pret elku pielūgšanu. bet kas ir elks? citu ticību dievišķā apziņa? vai vispār dievišķā attēlojums, ne tikai attēlos bet arī vārdos.

Muhameds musulmaņiem ir (vienīgais) Dieva pravietis. JK kristiešiem ir (vienīgais) Dieva dēls. bet ne-musulmaņiem ij ne-kristiešiem cilvēki kurjus tās reliģijas atzīst par Dieva sūtņiem. stingri iztulkojot rietumu ticību svētos rakstus, neticīgie būtu vajājami, iznīcinami. tas nesakrīt ne ar sekulāriem uzskatiem, ne mēreniem šīs ticības piekopējiem.

arvienu ir drauds, ka uz svēto raksta pamata, fundamentālisti pieprasa literāru iztulkojumu kas protams apdraud tos kas nav šo ticību piederīgie. cerība būtu, ka līdzīgi kristīgai ij ebreju ticībai, islams pārvērstu arvien vairāk fundamentālo uz mēreno ticības versiju kā spējīgu miermīlīgi sadzīvot ar ārpusniekiem. vienalaikus tas liktu citiem pārdomāt kā viņu pārliecības varētu būt reālākas, mazāk liekulīgas. tomēr pašreizējie apstākļi uz to nerāda. atliek cerība, ka pēc slimības analoģijas, sasniedzot visaugstāko temperatūru, pēc tam arī izveseļojās. (bet reizēm slimība arī nobeidz.)

Cerība ir skaista lieta, tāpat kā ticība ij mīlestība. Bet visskaistākā no tām trim ir mīlestība.

Cerības paušana neliks nevienam itin neko pārdomāt.

Tātad atliek cerība, ka mēs visi nobeigsimies? * Muslims murder innocent vacationers in Bali. No Muslim outrage.

* Muslim newspapers publish anti-Semitic cartoons. No Muslim outrage

* Muslims are involved, on one side or the other, in almost every one of the 125+ shooting wars around the world. No Muslim outrage.

* Muslims beat the charred bodies of Western civilians with their shoes, then hang them from a bridge. No Muslim outrage.

* Newspapers in Denmark and Norway publish cartoons depicting Mohammed. Muslims are outraged.

Dead children. Dead tourists. Dead teachers. Dead doctors and nurses. Death, destruction and mayhem around the world at the hands of Muslims .. no Muslim outrage ... but publish a cartoon depicting Mohammed with a bomb in his turban and all hell breaks loose.

Come on, is this really about cartoons? They're rampaging and burning flags. They're looking for Europeans to kidnap. They're threatening innkeepers and generally raising holy Muslim hell not because of any outrage over a cartoon. They're outraged because it is part of the Islamic jihadist culture to be outraged. You don't really need a reason. You just need an excuse. Wandering around, destroying property, murdering children, firing guns into the air and feigning outrage over the slightest perceived insult is to a jihadist what tailgating is to a Steeler's fan.

I know and understand that these bloodthirsty murderers do not represent the majority of the world's Muslims. When, though, do they become outraged? When do they take to the streets to express their outrage at the radicals who are making their religion the object of worldwide hatred and ridicule? Islamic writer Salman Rushdie wrote of these silent Muslims in a New York Times article three years ago. "As their ancient, deeply civilized culture of love, art and philosophical reflection is hijacked by paranoiacs, racists, liars, male supremacists, tyrants, fanatics and violence junkies, why are they not screaming?"

Indeed. Why not?

Japiezīmē, ka - vismaz ciktāl man zināms - ari Latvijas musulmaņu vadība nav nekādā veidā publiski nosodījusi radkāla islama teroru un nav skaidri norobežojusies no tā.

Atbildi uz šo jautājumu gan jau ka mums nebūs ilgi jāgaida. Ps. es tās bildes nesauktu par karikaturām, jo neko smieklīgu tur neredzēju, varbūt ziemeļniekiem tāda ir humora izjūta, bet man bija ilgi jamin, kas tur ir uzzimēts - Hotābičs no Smaragdu pilsētas vai kāds cits ;)
